When I started thinking about how I was going to write this blog post, the marketer in me wanted to make sure I had the words “gay wedding” and “same sex marriage” in the post numerous times to help my SEO rankings. But then I started thinking about the day and which parts were my favorite. After a few minutes of thinking, I realized my favorite parts were just like my favorite parts of a “normal” wedding. What made this wedding different than any other wedding I have shot? Why should this blog post be about the gender or sexual orientation of the individuals getting married? I never post my other blog posts as heterosexual weddings, so why should this one be about being a gay wedding? It wasn’t. It was just a wedding. Two people who are in love, proclaiming that love in front of their closest family and friends. So no more talk about gender or sexual orientation….only about love.
Ricky and Tim were married at the Western Lakes Golf Course in Pewaukee, WI on July 15th. My favorite part of Tim and Ricky’s wedding was the time we spent out on the golf course together taking photos with the bridal party. It was so easy to see how great these two guys were together and how happy they made each other. They were joking around with their friends, having a good time and making great memories. Their friends and family in the bridal party were always right there to get the couple smiling so natural smiles in their pictures were a breeze. I could tell from the very beginning of the day that this was a tight group and I loved shooting with them.
Here are a few of my favorite photos from the day.
And one more special request by the grooms. I don’t normally spend the extra time to do things like this but it was kinda fun….so Ricky and Tim, here’s a special wedding gift just for you for being my first same sex marriage. Thanks for trusting me with your special day. 🙂
Congratulations Ricardo and Tim. Enjoy your photos!
