Having fun and enjoying your day is what getting married is all about. Planning a wedding can be super stressful, but it doesn’t have to be. I compiled these tips because I have seen it all before – so let me share what I know to help you make your wedding day stress-free.
1. It’s all about Location
My best piece of advice is to pick a wedding location where you can have the ceremony and reception all in the same place. Being able to get ready in the same place that the rest of the wedding is taking place will relieve the stress of traveling and vehicle coordination. Having the wedding in one location is not only convenient for you, but also your guests.
Many people still want the traditional church ceremony and that is completely okay. In this case, you want to try to book a venue that is close to your ceremony location.
2. Unplug
There is nothing that ruins a bride walking down the aisle quite like Uncle Frank leaning into the aisle with his phone to try to capture a photo. It’s all too common to have guests ruin photos by being in the way in the hopes to capture that Instagram-worthy shot. It’s just not worth it. I strongly suggest making the ceremony “unplugged”. All you need to do is have a sign that asks guests to keep their phones away until after the ceremony. The officiant will often make an announcement for you too, if you’d rather.
3. Hire a Wedding Planner or Coordinator
Your wedding day is special and without a professional planner you may miss some of the details. Hiring a planner or a coordinator will help you keep things running smooth and take the burden of vendor coordination off your plate. You’ll be glad you did. Wedding planners can become your best friend. They are there to help you in ways you didn’t even know you needed help! They will ensure this really is the best day of your life.
4. Don’t Sweat the Small stuff
You know you can’t control everything. Buttons pop, kids cry, items get forgotten – it is all how you react to those situations that will make or break your wedding day. Those little things won’t matter when you look back at your wedding in 20 years. Don’t sweat the small stuff.
5. It’s your day so you do you
Being present in your wedding day is so important Enjoy every single moment of your day from your first look to the send off. I’m there to capture those memories and not hinder them. If you want to get ready at home, then do that. If you want a ceremony in a special location, then do that too! It’s your day to do what YOU want. Too many times we get caught up in all of the things we think we should be doing that we forget to be present and remember why this day is so special. – you’re marrying your best friend! Remember to keep your day true to you.
If you’d like to chat about your wedding day, I am all ears! I would love to help you find ways to keep your wedding day moving smoothly and stress-free.
